The 4th of July is usually a time for Americans to celebrate the country’s independence by gathering for fun, food, and fireworks. Unfortunately for actorDanny Trejo, he found himself at the center of a brouhahathat saw the 80-year-old star get knocked to the ground. What started this whole mess?Water balloons.
As perTMZ, Trejo was at the Sunland-Tujunga parade in Los Angeleswhen the altercation went down. Reports from those on hand say that Trejo had gotten out of his car to take pictures with fanswhen someone lobbed a water balloon at his vintage ride. When Trejo asked them not to do that, the pelting continued,leadingto theMachetestarlosing his temper.
In the video below, the actor can be seen confronting those he assumed threw the water balloons,but turns out they were the wrong people. Trejo throws the first punch, and is met in return by a blowthat knocks him to the ground. A scuffle ensues which sees Trejo get back upand throw a chair into the crowd.
Law enforcement were called to the scene of the altercation,but by the time they arrived it was all over, and the crowd had gone about its business, leading tono one being charged in Water Balloon-Gate. Trejo told TMZ that he regrets what happened, while also calling those that threw the balloons“cowards.”He says that those tossing them were in their“30’s or so,”andshould have known better.
