Two weeks from today, HBO will debut their highly-anticipated seriesWestworld, and to get fans ready, the network has released two new videos. The first video is a 30-second trailer that teasesEd Harris’The Gunslinger, who tellsEvan Rachel Wood’s character that she has been a prisoner, and he’s here to set her free. Jonathan Nolan, the brother ofChristopher Nolanand creator ofPerson of Interest, co-created this new show with his wifeLisa Joy, revealing in thisYouTubevideo that the show is a “full boat Westrn” mixed with a sci-fi series. We also hear fromJ.J. Abrams, who serves as an executive producer and reveals that this show explores how people behave when their greatest fears and emotions are challenged. We also hear from stars such asThandie Newton,Jeffrey WrightandEvan Rachel Wood.

This new series is based on the 1973 movie written and directed by famed authorMichael Crichton. It is a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin. It explores a world in which every human appetite, no matter how noble or depraved, can be indulged. These appetites can be indulged at a massive resort, which features recreations of different time periods where patrons can experience their wildest fantasies withlife-like robots.
