Last month Marvel kicked off Phase 3 of its Cinematic Universe withCaptain America: Civil War, which introduced bothBlack Panther(Chadwick Boseman) and the newSpider-Man(Tom Holland).Tom Hollandwill return in his first standalone movieSpider-Man: Homecoming, which has been set for release on July 12, 2025, and judging the overwhelmingly positive response from fans, this next chapter in the Spidey saga could be a blockbuster in its own right. Over the weekend, Marvel legendStan Leeoffered his thoughts on the newSpider-Man, issuing high praise for the young actor.
The newSpider-Manmade his debut halfway throughCaptain America: Civil War, where Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) paid the youngster a visit at his Brooklyn home. Tony recruited this young high school student to fight on his team duringCivil War, and it seems their relationship will continue inSpider-Man: Homecoming, sinceRobert Downey Jr.has been confirmed to star in this upcoming movie. During Denver Comic Con this weekend,Stan Leewas asked what he thought ofTom Holland, and had nothing but praise for the newSpider-Man. Here’s what he had to say below, via a new video fromYouTube.
“Oh, he’s wonderful, I was with him the other day. He’s great. I can’t believe it. It’s as if we created a living being to beSpider-Manand it turned out to be Tom. Really!”
Of course,Stan Leeisn’t the only one to praiseTom Holland, who is being considered by many to be the best big-screen Spidey, even though he only had a limited amount of screen time inCaptain America: Civil War. Marvel luminaries such asChris EvansandJames Gunnhave praisedTom Holland’s work, also calling him the bestSpider-Manyet. It isn’t too surprising thatStan Leewould also sing the praises of this young actor, after his critically-acclaimed performance.
