Back in the fall of 2014, Warner Bros. unveiled their official DC Comics slate, which included directorDavid Ayer’sSuicide Squad. At the time, it wasn’t confirmed which characters would be used from the ever-evolving comic book lineup, but an early rumor claimed that the villains would be Blockbuster, Multiplex, Jaculi, Mindboggler, Captain Boomerang, Vixen and Deadshot, although only two of those characters ended up being correct. Now that we’re just one week away fromSuicide Squadhitting theaters, directorDavid Ayerreveals that he was close to including another character in this lineup from the DC Comics.
David Ayertook part in aTwitterQ&A forSuicide Squadtoday, where he was asked by a fan if he could reveal what other characters he was thinking about bringing in forTask Force X, but didn’t make the cut. The filmmaker revealed that one character who lamost made it in, though he wasn’t previously rumored, was King Shark. Here’s what the director had to say about this character, and who eventually replaced him.
“One of the characters I was thinking about for the squad line-up was actually King Shark, but we realized it would take a lot of work - a lot of CG work. We actually ended up going withKiller Crocwho turned out to be the right guy for the job.”
Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbajeplays Killer Croc inSuicide Squad, but of course we don’t know if he would have also played King Shark instead. It’s worth noting that The CW TV seriesThe Flashshowcased King Shark in an episode this season. It’s possible that either the director or perhaps the studio was trying to keep costs down, and that’s why they decided to go with Killer Croc over King Shark.

She cuts deals with a whole squad of prisoners:Deadshot(Will Smith) gets his Second Amendment rights reinstated, Harley (Margot Robbie) is set free from her cage, Diablo (Jay Hernandez) steps out of his fireproof prison, Boomerang (Jai Courtney) and Slipknot (Adam Beach) each get to wield their signature weapons once more, and Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) emerges from the swamp. The only condition is this: Obey orders or die. This is strictly enforced by squad leader Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman), the samurai Katana (Karen Fukuhara), and of course the explosive devices - developed by Wayne Enterprises - inserted into their necks. However, the arrival of the tatted-up Gotham City mega-criminal, the Joker (Jared Leto), might doom the mission thanks to his plan to reunite with his true love, Harley.
